Founded 1896
The New York State Talking Book and Braille Library (TBBL)
serves people of all ages in New York's upstate 55 counties with recorded
and braille books. TBBL serves over 1,700 schools and 16,000 students, as
well as thousands of adults. TBBL is the public library for people who can't
see print, or hold a book, or turn its pages.
Talking and Braille Books for all ages:
- A free library service for residents of New York
who can’t use standard print owing to a physical, visual or reading
disability
- Service to individuals, schools, college, and
institutions
- Nearly 41,000 eligible New Yorkers already
registered and getting books
- Over 68,000 titles, fiction and non-fiction, in
braille, or on cassette
- A new digital format coming in 2008
- Loan of special playback equipment at no charge
- Over 70 magazines available in special format
- Free book catalogs in large print, braille, or
recorded format
